Ok I love film! Yeah you say, NO I mean I LOVE film! It’s a highly irrational love that in todays world of photography makes very little sense to most photographers. But I am NOT most photographers!

I can give you a run down of why film is better than digital, all the megapixels and blah blah but in truth thats got very little to do with why I shoot film. And very little to do with why I am the right photographer for you. And I don’t even think that film is always better than digital. I KNOW shock horror!

I just love the pictures! I love whimsical, nostalgic photos (as you may have already noticed :P), I love looking back at my grandparents and my parents photo albums. I love the old photos from when we were kids. I LOVE OLD PHOTOS!!

Old photos have a visual quality that is so different from todays photographs.

I learned photography in digital and I tried oh how I tried to replicate those old photographs digitally, and with the right lenses and software you can get pretty close. Pretty close wasn’t good enough for me I wanted the real thing. (I told you irrational) Then I bought a HOLGA! A holga is a plastic inexpensive camera that takes professional medium format film. It was a REVELATION to me! Photographs had the old world look I was after. Then I got my hands on a beautiful old Hasselblad, a Blad or Hassy is and always has been a top of the line super duper amazing camera, it’s the camera they took to the moon. And the one I had was a rare 1953 Hasselblad 1000f, only the second model they ever made. It doesn’t just take beautiful photos it looks gorgeous and goes CLUNK! Whirrr… Shick.. Shick.

After taking pictures with these cameras I just couldn’t go back, I was having a completely irrational love affair with film, chemicals, old cameras and photographs that just blew anything I did in digital out of the water.
